Molecular Imaging is a study involving the visualisation of the cellular function and the follow-up of the molecular process in living subjects (human or animal) using advanced imaging techniques. The multiple and numerous potentialities of this field are applicable to the diagnosis of diseases such as cancer, neurological and cardiovascular diseases including infections and inflammatory conditions. This technique is clinically utilised in the early detection of diseases, monitoring treatments and follow up. The field is expected to have a major economic impact due to earlier and more precise diagnosis using standalone state of the art  medical devices such as MR (Magnetic Resonance) , Optical Imaging and Hybrid Modalities (PET-CT, SPECT-CT , molecular-MR or Mammography-PET). Molecular imaging differs from traditional imaging in that probes known as biomarkers are used to help image particular targets or pathways. The ability to image fine molecular changes opens up an incredible number of exciting possibilities for medical application through multidisciplinary integration in science, technology, medicine and pharmacy.
